Feng Shui 2027: the Flying Stars chart
Every year, nine stars move house. The Flying Star school (飞星) tracks them on the Luo Shu grid (洛书九宫) — the same nine-sector map a compass-school audit draws over your floor plan. This page works out the 2027 chart from first principles, then reads it sector by sector, so you can see which rooms of your home are favoured this year and which deserve a quieter life.
The feng shui year does not begin on 1 January. The 2027 chart takes effect at Li Chun 立春 — on or about 4 February 2027 — and runs until Li Chun 2028. And we are inside Period 9 (2024–2043), the twenty-year cycle ruled by the fire star 9, which is why the 9 star reads strong wherever it lands.
How this chart is calculated
The annual chart is not a matter of opinion; it follows one rule, applied the same way every year. First, find the star that flies into the centre. For a year, add its digits together until one digit remains, and subtract from 11. For 2027: 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 11, which reduces to 2, and 11 − 2 = 9. So in 2027 the 9 Purple star sits in the centre palace.
The other eight stars then follow the Luo Shu flight path — centre → northwest → west → northeast → south → north → southwest → east → southeast — counting upward and wrapping from 9 back to 1. That gives northwest 1, west 2, northeast 3, south 4, north 5, southwest 6, east 7 and southeast 8. You can check the arithmetic against any year you already know: the same formula puts star 3 in the centre for 2024 and star 2 for 2025. The grid below is drawn the compass-school way, with south at the top. Tap a sector to read it.
The 2027 chart 二〇二七飞星图
Nine palaces, nine stars. Red stars are the year's sensitive visitors; the gold centre is the year's presiding star.
Sector by sector: what to do in 2027
Centre — 9 Purple 九紫 (Fire)
The star of the age takes the throne room. Nine Purple governs celebration, reputation, romance and happy events, and in the centre it touches every room around it. Keep the middle of your home open — no storage towers, no dead plants, no broken things parked "temporarily". Warm light and a little genuine red or purple in the decor are the traditional welcome. If your home has a natural gathering point, this is a year to use it: meals, conversation, people.
Southeast — 8 White 八白 (Earth)
Eight White is the prosperity star of the previous period, and in Period 9 it still reads as a strong wealth-and-stability visitor. In 2027 it sits in the southeast. Give this sector work to do: a desk where you handle money or business, the family's active corner rather than its dumping ground. Keep it clean and moving — a healthy plant and regular use support it. Earth tones and a touch of fire colour (which feeds earth in the generating cycle) are the classical dressing.
South — 4 Green 四绿 (Wood)
Four Green is the scholar's star — examinations, writing, research and creative work — with a second face: romance and attraction. In the south this year, it suits a study nook, a reading chair, or the spot where a student in the house prepares. Fresh green plants and a small water feature are its traditional companions; clutter and dried, dead arrangements are not. Single and hoping? Tradition says this sector, kept fresh and bright, is where 2027 lends its help.
Southwest — 6 White 六白 (Metal)
Six White speaks for authority, leadership, mentors and the steady climb at work. In the southwest in 2027, it rewards order: this is a good sector for the main earner's paperwork, certificates, or the shelf where professional life is organised. Metal objects — a lamp, a frame, something with clean round form — are at home here. Keep it respected rather than busy; the southwest is also the relationships sector of the underlying Bagua, so calm serves twice.
East — 7 Red 七赤 (Metal)
Seven Red is a declining star in Period 9, and tradition reads it as loss: theft, breakage, careless words and money that leaks. In the east this year, the advice is plain and practical. Keep doors and windows secure, don't store valuables carelessly, and don't conduct arguments standing in the eastern room. The traditional softener is water — still, deep colours, blue and black accents — which in the elemental cycle tempers metal. Avoid piling sharp metal objects here.
West — 2 Black 二黑 (Earth)
Two Black is the illness star. Wherever it lands, tradition prescribes quiet: no renovation, no drilling, no upheaval in the west of your home in 2027, and keep the sector clean and aired. If a bedroom occupies the west, the classical remedy is metal — a round metal object by the bed is the traditional form — because metal drains earth in the controlling cycle. Treat the guidance as cultural housekeeping, not medicine: rest well, ventilate, and let the room be calm.
Northeast — 3 Jade 三碧 (Wood)
Three Jade carries disputes: arguments that start small, complaints, bureaucratic and legal friction. In the northeast in 2027, keep this sector peaceful — it is a poor place for a home office phone that rings with problems, or for the household's loudest appliance. The traditional softener is fire: red accents, warm light, a candle's colour without the flame if you prefer, because fire drains wood in the generating cycle. Keep paperwork that lives here tidy and current.
North — 5 Yellow 五黄 (Earth)
Five Yellow is the star practitioners respect most: misfortune, accidents and sudden setbacks in the old texts. In 2027 it occupies the north. The traditional rules are strict and simple — no digging, no renovation, no demolition in the northern sector this year; keep it quiet; if your front door or bedroom is in the north, use it gently and keep it uncluttered. The classical remedy is metal, traditionally a metal wind chime or a set of six coins, because metal exhausts earth.
Northwest — 1 White 一白 (Water)
One White is a fortunate visitor: wisdom, career momentum, travel and the flow of helpful connections. In the northwest in 2027 — the sector of mentors in the underlying Bagua — it suits planning, study, important calls and the desk where you think long-term. Keep it clean and flowing rather than sealed and stored. Metal accents support water in the generating cycle, and a northwest kept bright is traditionally the corner that brings the right people within reach.
But where do these sectors fall in your home?
A chart is only half the reading. The other half is your floor plan: which compass sector your front door, kitchen and bedrooms actually occupy, and how the year's stars land on the rooms you live in. That mapping — sector by sector, with a room-by-room remedy list — is exactly what our Home Feng Shui Audit draws for you from a floor plan and one compass reading. Or take the Bundle: your BaZi Destiny Report and the audit together, the person and the home read as one picture.
